Koh Tachai is one of the most beautiful dive sites in the area. It has got a bit of everything. You will find huge rock formations with an astonishing landscape as well as a domed plateau with a beautiful coral garden home to many coloured Sea Fans. This is a dive site where we often have encounters with Manta Ray and different kinds of shark including Leopard Sharks. You can find shoals of Batfish and Banner fish, whilst above the site look out for rare Oceanic Triggerfish. Giant Trevally can be seen hunting out in the blue, and if you are lucky you can find Black Fin Barracuda circling.
The dive site is normally accessed via a line down to a domed coral garden in the centre starting at 12 metres with huge granite boulders scattered around. On the outside of the boulders you can get to 35 to 40 meters deep except on the northern side, which is shallower.
There can sometimes be a strong current at Koh Tachai, so this is not a dive site suitable for beginners.
